Research within the Public Dental Service

Since 2005, odontological research and development within the Public Dental Service, Örebro County Council, has had its own organisational structure through the Odontological Research Unit. The Unit has academic links to the School of Health and Medical Sciences at Örebro University. Clinical, patient-related research is conducted in different areas. A number of the projects are characterised by an interdisciplinary approach. Through employees who are actively involved in research, we have a large network of contacts and we collaborate with other units within the County Council and with other county councils and university departments.

'Assure the quality of healthcare through research – Assure the quality of research through healthcare' is the strategy research and education strategy adopted by the County Council. The importance of maintaining close ties between research and clinical practice, as well as the value of establishing a stable, creative research environment within the Public Dental Service, are emphasised further in the Public Dental Service research strategy and operating plan.
