Application for Swedish licence to practise as a doctor of medicine
The way a general practitioner from the Netherlands can get a specialist competence certificate for general medicine issued by the Swedish authority The National Board of Health and Welfare, Socialstyrelsen, is to apply to the authority for the following:

  1. Swedish licence to practise as a doctor of medicine
  2. Specialist competence certificate for general medicine

According to the principle of free labour movement within the EU, member countries recognize and accept each other's evidence of licence to practise and specialist competence certificates.
Employers in Sweden then assume responsibility and determine the training a doctor with previous specialist training requires to use his/her knowledge and skills from the home country in the Swedish health care system.

Örebro County Council will provide assistance with the Swedish application process to candidates offered employment for the current project.
